Application of the automatic compensation method to improve the spectral characteristics of the generators of probing signals of ground penetrating radars for subsurface probing of the geological environment
This paper discusses the application of the method of automatic compensation of phase distortions of direct digital synthesizers (DDS) to improve the spectral characteristics of generators of probing signals of subsurface ground penetrating radars of the geological environment. The proposed technical solutions were tested using an experimental sample of a georadar probing signal generator based on the DDS AD9854 debug module with an automatic compensator for phase distortions and disturbance regulation and showed a decrease in the level of discrete parasitic spectral components depending on the frequency offset by 10-15 dB with a simultaneous decrease in the phase noise level by 5-10 dB. The developed experimental sample was used as part of the OKO-2 georadar for subsurface probing of the geological environment during monitoring of a main oil and gas pipeline located in a karst-hazardous area. From the obtained two-dimensional sections of the geological environment in the control zone, the possibility of identifying minor changes in the state of the object of control was established due to an increase in the spectral characteristics of the probing signal generators.
